Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergei Ryzhikov, Alexei Zubritsky (TASS special correspondent) and Kirill Peskov congratulated the people of Russia on Victory Day from aboard the International Space Station (ISS).
"We congratulate you on Victory Day with all our hearts. 80 years have passed since the end of the Great Patriotic War and there are almost no living witnesses of those terrible events that ended with the unconditional victory of our country. Our sacred duty is to preserve the memory of the feat of our ancestors. It is a great honor for the Russian crew to deliver a copy of the Victory Banner to the International Space Station," said Sergei Ryzhikov.
According to Alexei Zubritsky, the ISS is "a striking example of how citizens of different countries can work together to create something truly important and useful for all of humanity."
As Kirill Peskov noted, on Victory Day, cosmonauts remember those who forged victory in bloody battles and liberated the world from fascism. "We bow our heads before those who helped stop the enemy and did not return from the battlefield. We honor those who forged the weapons of victory in the rear, who survived hunger, bombing and devastation. We thank those who restored the country from ruins in the shortest possible time. We will remember the feat of our ancestors in the Great Patriotic War and pass this memory on to our descendants," he emphasized.
