China has started selling space tickets to everyone
31 октября 2024
Chinese space startup Deep Blue Aerospace has sold the first two tickets for a flight into outer space. In 12 minutes in orbit, future tourists paid 1.5 million yuan (20 million rubles) each. 3 million people watched the broadcast of the auction, tickets were redeemed in just 4 minutes. The next sale will take place in a month.
The launch of the Deep Blue Aerospace tourist spacecraft is scheduled for 2027. If successful, this project will become a direct competitor to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos's Blue Origin and British billionaire Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic, which in recent years have begun offering flights into space at prices from 200 to 500 thousand dollars. The Chinese intend to send five people on their debut flight, and the first Chinese cosmotourist will be the CEO of the company, Ho Liang. According to him, the requirements for passengers are "not much higher than for airplane passengers." They must be between 18 and 60 years old and must pass special tests to survive the flight.
The ship is named Nebula-1, and it is currently being finalized. In September, during tests, a reusable rocket crashed upon landing and testing a vertical takeoff and vertical landing system, but Chinese developers are confident that they will be able to correct all errors in the near future. The next tests will be held in November. And in the next two years, many new tests will be conducted, which should confirm the "safety and reliability of suborbital manned flights."
The management of Deep Blue Aerospace promises that during the flight, after reaching the desired altitude, passengers will be able to unfasten their seat belts in space and "swim like fish in zero gravity." "From space you will see that the Earth is round, enjoy the beauty of the vast universe and the blue planet where people live," they assure.
On the Nebula-1 rocket, tourists will be lifted to a height of up to 150 km, and they will stay in zero gravity for up to 600 seconds. The passenger module of the ship will be 3.5 meters wide and 4.0 meters high, and six portholes will be placed in it. The payload is 1200 kg, and the module itself can be reused up to 50 times.
